Maria Schweers, Certified Orthoptist

Maria is a certified orthoptist who has undergone an accredited 2 year training program.  Orthoptists have expertise in helping to treat children with lazy vision (amblyopia) and lazy eye problems (strabismus). 

Maria has worked as a certified orthoptist in private practice pediatric ophthalmology clinics since 1989.  She is very experienced in evaluating and overseeing treatment for common eye conditions in children.

Maria is availble to see patients on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Allied Health Education:

 
     -Maria completed a 2 year course of study in orthoptics at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology, graduating in 1989.  She successfully completed her boards to become a certified orthoptist in 1989.

Undergraduate Education:

 
     -Maria attended the University of Iowa graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in 1987.
