HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD'S APPOINTMENT TAKE?

If your child is new to our office, we generally ask you to allow up to 2 hours.  This includes some time allowance for new patient paperwork and registration.  The examination itself typically runs 1 to 1/12 hours which includes a waiting period of 30 to 45 minutes while your child's eyes are being dilated with eye drops.

The registration process may be expedited by filling out our registration papers in advance.  We are happy to mail these forms to you, or you may print off the forms from the NEW PATIENTS area of the website.

If a child is an established patient returning for a complete eye examination, we ask you to allow for up to 1 1/2 hours, which again includes a waiting period of 30 to 45 minutes while your child's eyes are being dilated.  Once children reach their teen-age years, it may be possible to do an accurate examination without the need for eye dilation each time.  In this case, the examination will often run less than an hour.

Some of our children return for limited visits to follow up on a specific medical condition.  These visits typically take around 20 minutes.
